How This Works

NexGen provides quotation-based service levels so clients can choose the delivery pathway that matches their project scope, budget, coordination risk and documentation expectations. All levels receive professional engineering judgement and appropriate design rigour.

The difference is the level of documentation detail, BIM modelling, coordination time, digital delivery scope and construction-stage support included in the engagement. This gives clients clearer expectations before the project begins.

Final scope, deliverables and certification responsibilities are confirmed in the project proposal before engagement.

[ 03 ]Inspection & Reporting

Site inspection, reporting & rectification pathways.

NexGen provides staged inspection and reporting pathways for site issues, cracking, movement, structural concerns, drainage-related damage, construction defects and rectification planning. Scope and fees are confirmed by quotation.

Stage 1

Preliminary Site Review

Initial review of available documents, site photos and visual site conditions. Suitable for early issue identification, scope confirmation, risk flagging and determining whether further engineering assessment, survey, intrusive investigation or rectification documentation is required.

Stage 2

Detailed Engineering Assessment

Detailed visual inspection with photographic record, review of available drawings, observed defect summary, likely cause discussion and written engineering assessment report. Suitable for general structural concerns, cracking, movement, construction defects and builder/client clarification.

Stage 3

Premium Assessment with Level Survey

Detailed assessment with coordinated level survey or additional measurement records where differential movement, settlement, slab performance or footing behaviour needs to be verified. Suitable for complex, high-value or movement-sensitive projects.

Stage 4

Rectification Concept

Concept-level rectification strategy including likely repair pathways, scope outline, feasibility considerations and preliminary construction guidance for client, builder or contractor review.

Stage 5

Detailed Rectification Documentation

[ 06 ]Why It Works

Why NexGen's delivery system works.

Engineering value explained in business terms — what clients actually get from structured, coordinated and digitally-led project delivery.

01

Clarity Before Construction

Documentation is structured to reduce ambiguity, rework and site confusion. Drawing sets are checked for internal consistency before issue.

02

Engineering + BIM Integration

Structural, civil and digital workflows are coordinated instead of treated as separate outputs. One engineer, one coordination point, fewer gaps.

03

Flexible Scope Control

Clients can select budget, standard, BIM-coordinated or premium digital delivery levels — matched to project needs and budget, not one-size-fits-all.

04

Construction-Aware Documentation

Drawings and models are developed with practical buildability and site coordination in mind. Details are drawn for the site team, not just the calculation.

05

Responsive Collaboration

NexGen supports builders, architects, developers and consultants through practical communication, WhatsApp accessibility and staged delivery aligned to project milestones.

06

Senior-Led Review

Every project is guided by a senior engineer with 18+ years of combined international and Australian practice. No graduate-only production handoffs.

A preliminary review can begin with architectural drawings, site photos or even a brief project description.
[ 08 ]Frequently Asked

Common questions.

Do you provide both structural and civil drainage design?
Yes. NexGen provides structural engineering and civil drainage documentation, including stormwater, OSD, WSUD and LPOD-related design where applicable. Both scopes can be coordinated together or engaged separately depending on project requirements.
Can I request only a site inspection without full design?
Yes. Inspection and reporting services can be scoped separately from full design documentation. NexGen offers staged inspection pathways from preliminary review through to detailed assessment, rectification concept and construction support.
Do you provide BIM services for other engineering or architectural firms?
Yes. NexGen can assist with BIM templates, CDE planning, Revit documentation standards, model coordination workflows, naming conventions and ISO 19650-aligned systems. This is available as a standalone consultancy service for firms looking to establish or improve their digital engineering workflows.
What is staged engineering delivery?
It means the project can start with a preliminary review or concept advice and progress into documentation, permit submission, construction issue and construction-stage support as required. This allows clients to manage budget and scope across project milestones.
Can you work directly with builders and architects?
Yes. NexGen supports builders, architects, developers and consultants through coordinated engineering, responsive communication and documentation workflows matched to the project delivery programme.
Do service levels affect the fee and deliverables?
Yes. Deliverables and fees vary depending on selected service level, project complexity, documentation detail, coordination requirement and digital delivery scope. All levels receive the same engineering standard — the difference is documentation depth and coordination time.
Do you cover projects outside Victoria?
Yes. NexGen holds NSW Design Practitioner and NSW Principal Design Practitioner registrations and has delivered projects across Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. Interstate projects are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
What if I only have limited project information?
That's normal for early-stage projects. Send what you have — architectural drawings, site photos, a brief scope description — and NexGen will advise what additional information is needed to confirm the engineering scope and provide an appropriate quotation.
How do you handle pricing and quotations?
NexGen provides clear, scope-based quotations before engagement begins. Fees are matched to the selected service level, project complexity and documentation requirements. There are no hidden charges. You know the scope, deliverables and fee before the project starts — so you can plan your budget with confidence.
What makes NexGen different from other structural engineering firms?
NexGen is senior-led — every project is guided by an experienced engineer, not handed off to graduates. We combine structural and civil drainage coordination under one roof, deliver through BIM-first workflows, and maintain direct communication with builders and architects throughout the project. The result is fewer coordination gaps, cleaner documentation and less rework on site.
How do you ensure documentation quality and coordination?
Every drawing set is internally checked for consistency between structural, civil and architectural interfaces before issue. We use Revit-based coordination, model checking and standardised QA processes. Documentation is prepared with construction delivery in mind — practical details that builders can actually use without calling back with RFIs.
What is your typical turnaround time?
Turnaround depends on project complexity, scope and current workload. Standard residential packages are typically delivered within 2–4 weeks from receipt of complete information. NexGen provides realistic timeframes at quotation stage and keeps clients informed of progress. We prioritise consistency and quality over rushing — because rework costs more than waiting for it to be done properly.
Can you help if my current engineer is unresponsive or documentation has gaps?
Yes. NexGen regularly assists builders and architects who need responsive engineering support, documentation corrections, RFI responses or construction-stage clarification. If your current documentation has coordination gaps or your previous engineer is unavailable, we can review the scope and provide a clear pathway forward.
Do you provide ongoing support after drawings are issued?
Yes. Construction-stage support is a core part of what we do — not an afterthought. This includes RFI responses, shop drawing review, hold-point inspections, design clarification and rectification guidance. NexGen stays accessible throughout construction, not just during the design phase.
How do architects benefit from working with NexGen?
Architects get coordinated structural and civil documentation that respects the architectural intent, responds to design changes promptly, and integrates cleanly with architectural models when BIM coordination is engaged. NexGen communicates directly with the architect — not through layers of project managers — which means faster resolution of design interface issues.
Why should a builder choose NexGen over a larger firm?
Builders get direct access to the engineer who designed the project — not a receptionist, not a graduate, not a project coordinator. That means faster answers to site questions, practical details that work in real construction conditions, and responsive support when something on site does not match the drawings. NexGen is built for builders who value reliable documentation and responsive communication.
